FAQ

Q. Do I need a referral?

A. Ohio is a Direct Access state with provisions, meaning you are able to see a Physical Therapist without a referral from your physician. By law we are required to inform your healthcare provider (OB/GYN, MD/DO/general practitioner, etc) that you are receiving PT services within five days of your evaluation*. For this reason we will request the information of your general practitioner.

Q. What is cash- based Pt/Do you accept insurance?

A. She Blooms Physical Therapy is a cash based PT company meaning we do not contract with any insurance providers. We are considered an out-of-network provider for all insurance companies. We will provide you with a detailed report (called a superbill) after your appointment that you can submit to your insurance provider for reimbursement. We do not guarantee reimbursement and you will need to check with your provider prior to your appointment on what they will and will not reimburse for with an out-of-network provider. Full payment is expected at the time of service and can be paid in cash or card (VISA, MC, HSA/FSA).

Q. What is your cancellation policy?

A. She Blooms Physical Therapy requires a 24 hour notice to cancel your appointment. If you cancel within 24 hours you are required to pay the fee for your appointment.

Q. What will an appointment with She Blooms PT look like?

A. All Physical therapy appointments are scheduled for 60 minutes. At your initial evaluation we’ll take the time to get to know you - your medical history, lifestyle, and goals. Then we’ll go through a thorough evaluation looking at the function of your muscles, connective tissue/fascia, and nerves throughout your body, but focusing on the core which includes the pelvic floor, abdominals, low back, and diaphragm. For the majority of our patients, we recommend an internal vaginal exam as part of the evaluation; however, you are always allowed to request an external evaluation, decline, or interrupt the exam at any time. We do not use stirrups or a speculum as a part of the exam. We also do not perform an internal exam if you are in the first trimester of pregnancy, if you are on pelvic rest, or if your bag of waters has opened. We will discuss the findings as we go along ending with a comprehensive explanation, physical therapy diagnosis, and plan to address any dysfunctions and/or pain found so you are able to continue to work towards your goals outside of the therapy session. Followup appointments will include a review of what’s been going on since your last appointment, and then the treatment will be dictated by your needs on that day. Some times it may include more hands-on manual work, internal or external along with exercise review and progressions and other times it may include minimal to no manual work. After every appointment you will have a clear plan on what to do till your next appointment.

Q. Can I attend Therapy while menstruating?

A. Absolutely! There are no contraindications for internal pelvic floor therapy while you are on your period. Some women, however, would rather not have internal work performed, which is perfectly fine. We can keep the appointment and work externally. We will not work internally during active infections (yeast, UTI/bladder), during the first trimester of pregnancy unless written consent is obtained from your OBGYN or Midwife, the first 6-8 weeks following birth, and/or during an active outbreak of HSV or other infectious disease.
